Jerry Cavalieri
Chief Executive Officer
Jerry is a former Pacific Gas & Electric principal FERC accountant and the original co-designer of the IS/U-FERC module. He now leads our team of SAP consultants and utility industry experts as CEO of HPC America. Jerry has a clear vision for mid-size utilities to enjoy the benefits of SAP without the traditional costs, and he continues to work closely and directly with HPC clients to ensure they receive the highest level of service. His combined SAP and utility experience enables HPC to solve problems faster and more effectively than clients have experienced before.
Jerry joined HPC in 1999 after 15 years in financial roles at Pacific Gas & Electric in San Francisco. He led the team that developed the very first SAP solution for utilities to comply with U.S. accounting requirements. He has held positions as Vice President, Professional Services, Director, Utilities Business Practice, and SAP Project Manager on premier client engagements. He is a guest lecturer on SAP topics in the utilities industry. Jerry earned a Bachelors degree in Business from the University of San Francisco, and a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from St. Mary's College in Moraga, California. Eugen Furler, PhD
Platinum SAP Developer
Eugen is the SAP equivalent of a rocket scientist; he excels at solving very complex and obscure problems that elude most other seasoned architects. He brings more than 12 years of functional and technical SAP experience to HPC's clients, and has worked with many utilities including PG&E, Southern California Edison, Trans Bay Cable, Tacoma Public Utilities, Public Services Enterprise Group, ABB, and Ontario Power Generation.
Eugen's SAP skills span all SAP R/3 releases from 3.0F to SAP ERP, the utility sector IS-U/FERC module, and the integration of SAP and Microsoft via the SAP .NET Connector to the SAP Business Object Repository. He is certified in SAP's MM, FI Travel Planning, and GRC, and has deep knowledge of SD, EDI, and the integration of SD/MM with other modules such as PM, FI/CO, and HR. Eugen is also highly experienced in the design and development of interfaces, add-ons using user exits, customer enhancements, dialog transactions, function modules (including RFC's and BAPI's), and reports using ABAP, SAPScript, SMARTFORMS, ALV, and ABAP OO methods. He is patient and strives to understand user requirements whether developing new SAP functionality or providing training and support.
Beyond his experience serving utilities, Eugen has worked for HPC Germany and consulted for SAP, Wolfcraft North America, OCR Services, Inc., Hitachi America, and Foster Farms. His educational background includes a diploma from the University of Karlsruhe and a Ph.D. in theoretical high-energy physics from the University of Heidelberg.
Matt Mosley
Senior SAP Consultant
Matt has developed more than 20 years of utility company experience and 14 years of SAP consulting. Based on his strong accounting background and experience as a Controller, the majority of his SAP work at utilities has focused on regulatory matters, such as advising Regulatory Relations departments, implementing, configuring, and enhancing the SAP FERC module, and leading General Rate Case projects. He has served as Lead Consultant and Consultant on engagements with Pepco, Pacific Gas & Electric, Arizona Electric Power Cooperative, Navajo Tribal Utility Authority, and Tacoma Power.
Prior to joining HPC America, Matt was a consultant for R3KB Consulting and managed the configuration and support of regulatory accounting systems for U.S. energy companies. He also held a variety of finance leadership and strategy roles for National Grid Company and Datum Solutions in the United Kingdom.
Matt's SAP expertise includes FI, CO, IS/U-FERC, and HPC's SAP-certified solution, Utility Financials Accelerator. He is also experienced with SAP MM, AM, and ABAP Query, and is a power user of Microsoft Excel, Access (Applications and VBA), and SQL Server and Reporting Services. Matt is a member of CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) and earned a B.S. in Business with honors from the University of London.
Ron Kim
Senior BI/BW Consultant
Ron is an SAP reporting guru, from classic SAP to the newer Business Warehouse and Business Objects tools. Clients value his ability to take voluminous amounts of complex data and create interactive reports that are both easy to understand and navigate. Ron's 20 years of experience in software development also includes analyzing and solving complex programming problems, implementing new systems, and supporting existing applications. Since 1998, he has worked exclusively with utility companies running SAP, such as Navajo Tribal Utility Authority, Sempra Energy, PacificCorp, and Entergy.
Ron has 10 years of technical development experience with SAP R/3 and four years with SAP BW. He has strong knowledge of BW migration and upgrade best practices and processes, and is proficient in data modeling using BW extended star schema models. Ron also has extensive project management experience, including Planning (Blueprint and Spec), Designing (Technical Spec), Test Plans (User Acceptance Testing), Training and Documentation (Roll-Out), Cut-over, and Project Closure (Post Mortem). Ron's specific SAP experience includes SAP R/3 (4.7, 4.6C) ABAP/4, Dialog Programming, SAPSCRIPT, SAP BW (7.0, 3.1C, 3.0B), ADK, ALV, Report-to-Report Interface, User Exits, and BAdI (RSR_OLAP_BADI), as well as SAP Modules for Conversion, MM, FI, CO, and AA.
Before focusing on utility companies, Ron consulted Kubota Tractors, Hunt Wesson, Yamaha Motors, Isuzu Motors, and a number of other businesses requiring expert systems analysis, programming, and project leadership. Ron is SAP Certified in SAP R/3 and ABAP/4, and earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
Bernhard Schneck
Senior Solutions Architect
Bernhard is an expert at translating utility company business process needs into SAP functionality. He brings more than 10 years of experience with utilities and 20 with SAP to HPC's clients, a level rarely found anywhere in the world today. Other developers recognize Bernhard as an excellent resource for advice on what is possible with SAP, and clients laud his communication and teaching skills. He is equally comfortable speaking with C-level executives on strategic matters as he is working with junior analysts on technical issues.
Given his background, it's no surprise that Bernhard is regarded as a leader in both technical and functional implementations and enhancements of SAP. His technical knowledge includes ABAP development in dialogue programming, BADIs, RFC, ALE, IDOC, SAP-XI, XML, SAP Script, SmartForms, Basis, EDI, OPEN-FI, BDC, ALV, and workflow programming. His functional experience covers Materials Management, Warehouse Management, Production Planning, Sales and Distribution, and Financials from SAP's earliest releases of R/2 and R/3 up to ECC 6.0. He has consulted a number of clients on EDI, Integration with FI, freight and procurement issues, MRP, MM Pricing, integration with ArchiveLink, custom user exits, and ALE strategies and implementations.
Prior to joining HPC America, Bernhard held SAP solutions architect roles with a number of companies in the automotive and chemical industries. He has worked in the United States, Austria, Germany, and Norway, and speaks English, German, and French.
Jean Mariani
Project Manager
Jean brings to HPC more than thirty years of public agency experience as a budget and finance professional, including work for the City and County of San Francisco, East Bay Municipal Utility District, and the Sonoma County Water Agency. She earned a B.S. in Economics from Santa Clara University, and has additional training in governmental audits and utility ratemaking. Jean is the past president of the California Association of Sanitation Agencies and is currently an elected Director of the Novato Sanitary District.
Steven Brown
Change Management Consultant / Director of Marketing
Steven brings 18 years of communications, project management, and customer relationship management experience to HPC. Clients value his responsiveness, organization, and clear approach to assessing user needs and developing training materials and documentation. He has worked with HPC since 2008.
Prior to joining HPC, Steven held sales, marketing, and operations leadership roles at Lyris Technologies, Ritchey International, and MPM Consulting, helping all three entrepreneurial ventures to grow consistently.
