2019 SAP for Utilities Conference

HPC America is a utility industry expert dedicated to everything touching SAP Financials—from cost accounting, work management, and regulatory (FERC) reporting in the back office, to billing and customer relationship management in the front office. At the 2019 SAP for Utilities conference in San Diego, we’ll share our expertise around utility accounting and regulatory (FERC) reporting on SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA, and around SAP C/4HANA Service Cloud.

On Tuesday, October 22, HPC customer Salt River Project will present its simplification of FERC accounting on SAP ECC and improved readiness for S/4HANA. SRP adopted HPC’s “CO-centric” FERC model and HPC Utility Financials Accelerator (UFA) add-on software that eliminate the inherent limitations of the delivered FERC module, cut monthly processing time dramatically, and enables the accounting department to work more independently. This pragmatic, five-month project also increased SRP’s readiness for its eventual migration to SAP S/4HANA by establishing a financial data model very similar to that in the Universal Journal, years before SRP actually moves to S/4HANA. Read the full SRP case study about FERC optimization on SAP.

Looking ahead to S/4HANA, all utilities have a tremendous opportunity to transition from the traditional FERC derivation (batch) model to a line item-based, real time model that fully leverages the Universal Journal’s design. Stop by HPC America’s booth at the 2019 SAP for Utilities conference to learn how you can get the most out of SAP S/4HANA with our latest add-on solution, HPC DECIPHER, which runs natively on S/4HANA and delivers the most comprehensive functionality for line item-based translation, allocations, adjustments, cost flow forensics, and more. HPC DECIPHER is certified by SAP as integrated with SAP S/4HANA.

Utilities interested in learning about another FERC option on SAP S/4HANA can meet with HPC to discuss optimization of the delivered “FERC module” with HPC UFA add-on software, which also runs on S/4HANA and greatly improves the original derivation model.

In another area of the ERP, HPC is now in its second year of managing the first-ever integration of SAP C/4HANA Service Cloud with on-premises IS-U billing via SAP Cloud Platform Integration middleware. Our customer, Navajo Tribal Utility Authority, has been running C/4HANA Service Cloud in production since early 2018 for its new centralized call center. Before the conference, read why utilities should try C/4HANA, and lessons learned from C/4HANA’s 90-day upgrade cycle.
